To the man who drove all the way to Erie County in a January snow storm to spread the word about the paygrabbers: Thanks for allowing me to be a part of PACleanSweep. Couldn't stop reading for three days and learning more than I ever wanted to know about PA Politicos.
Hugh King

The writing style that Russ uses keeps you reading. I've tried to read political books in the past and could never get past the first couple pages. I went cover to cover in a matter of a couple days. You feel that you were along for the ride and makes you want to get more involved in working to fix our broken government.
Keith Fernsler

Russ Diamond has cured my political apathy!

My wife got me an autographed copy of "Tip of the Spear" for Christmas. I began reading at approx 2 pm. It is 4:20 p.m. and I am nearly a third of the way through -- I can't put it down! As an armchair pundit of sorts, I thoroughly enjoyed learning how a movement was built from the ground up. I also was gratified to learn some tidbits about the pay raise caper about which I - though an incurable political junkie - was unaware. Finally, it was neat to learn a lot about the Russ I never got a chance to know. Well done, Russ.

I believe this book should be required reading for all Pennsylvanians, whether or not you agree with Russ. It's an engaging book that outlines the shennanigans that happen daily with the taxpayer's money in Harrisburg, but also serves as a wake up call that we as citizens really can do something about it.

I was planning to watch some football on Thanksgiving but never made it to the TV all day. I just couldn't bring myself to put "Tip of the Spear" down. For those familiar with the PCS movement, Diamond's disclosure of many of the intimate, behind-the-scenes details is intriguing. For those who still aren't sure what PCS was all about, here's your chance to learn about the 21st Century tea party that threw a state Supreme Court justice and fifty-five incumbent legislators overboard.
Mark Schwab

The best book about politics I have ever read! It describes Pennsylvania's political situation in easy to understand terms. This book is also a must read for people planning on running for office as it highlights the tricks needed to run a successful campaign.

HarleyLady27: Has anyone read Russ Diamond's book? Is it good?

DivaDelMar: I read it. It is a must read for any serious scholar of Pennsylvania politics. It chronicles his first steps into politics, the payraise, his decision to organize opposition, the birth and actions of the organization, the reasoning, heartache, the angst, disappointments, lessons learned. His writing style is inviting. As you read, you feel like you are along for the wild ride. It is well written and enthralling.
