About Huanarpo Macho
Huanarpo Macho grows as a semi-succulent shrub, 1.5 to 2 meters tall, with fleshy branches and orange-red flowers, in the seasonally dry country of western Peru, from the coastal valleys into the Andean highlands. Macho is Spanish for "male": several different plants are sold in Peruvian markets as Huanarpo, some of them as Huanarpo Hembra, "female Huanarpo", so the full name matters.
